ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DU BENGALE
On the 29th September at 7pm at Alliance française du Bengale, we are pleased to present “Disappering Dialogues” by Nobina Gupta
Time is hastily making a lot of things obsolete, irrelevant and outdated. But, if we care to put a different lens on the things that are of little or no significance in our life today, then we might come across a completely different story.
Perhaps it is our ignorance that is making us blind. Taking us away from our own future. The looming threat of an existential crisis.
The Disappearing Dialogues is a series of interactions with nature, people and objects that are knocking on the doors of extinction. It is a symbol of hope. A voice that stimulates a cultural response engages viewers, blends imagery and knowledge and embraces life with all its intricacies.
Nobina Gupta is an alumnus of Santineketan. She has created a niche for herself, through significant representations at international Art fairs such as Art Fair Cologne, Germany (2013), Art Asia Miami (2011), Art Dubai (2011), Art Stages, Singapore (2012). She has also done solo shows in Switzerland at GalerieKashya Hildebrand (2011) & Jan Kossen Contemporary Gallery (2014), in India at Gallery Sanskriti (2011) along with eminent group shows in London, Sweden, Indonesia and India. Through her recent participations in ‘Earth Art Project’, in Ladakh at 17000ft cosponsored by Japan Foundation and ‘Encounters 2015- Spaces in Transition’, a Public Art Festival in Mumbai organized by Art O2 she has created engaging public interactions that have added to her repertoire.
Being an avid traveler to the Himalayas her work is inspired by the observations, filtered through a sensibility and naturally attuned to the language of abstraction. Her imagery has developed over time by expressing ideas in varied mediums through her profound understanding of contemporary visual culture.
Engaging viewers into intimate personal encounters with interactive Public Art Projects, Installations, video projections, ink painting she raises questions about the ongoing paradigms of development and sustainability within the present society.
