On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the 8^th of March, the Alliance française, in collaboration with TouchPaperProduction, La Brigade des Images, British Council and Goethe Institute, is proposing LOVE, GENDER & VIOLENCE in ART, a series of discussions and performances during two days, the 9^th and 10^th, from 2.30 pm to 4 pm, in Vivekananda Hall at Jadavpur University.

On the afternoon of the 9^th ,

• the guest speakers will be :
  • Madhuja MUKHERJEE, artist, filmmaker and academic. Teacher of Film Studies at Jadavpur University.
  • Epista HALDER, writer and activist. Teacher of Comparative Literature at Jadavpur University.
  • Syed Taufik Riaz, artist and performer. Instrumental in initiating “Kolkata International Performance Arts Festival”.
• The dance performers will be :
  • Monami Nandi, dancer at Odissi Vision and Movement Centre, Kolkata
  • Shruti Ghosh, dancer

On the afternoon of the 10^th ,

• the guest speaker will be :
  • Anit GHOSE, observer at the United Nations Global Committee of Experts on Geospatial Information Management and co-founder of GEO EXPLORER, an organisation which promotes indigenous knowledge.
• The dance performers will be :
  • Moushumi Bhowmik, singer and song writer of Bengal, writer and researcher at Jadavpur University
