Alliance française du Bengale will participant to an initiative of the social organization ‘FREED’ (Force for Rural Empowerment and Economic Development): ‘The Kolkata Concert for Nepal’ which is planned to raise funds and enable individuals and corporate to participate in helping our brothers and sisters of Nepal in distress.
The concept and organization of the concert is being coordinated by Pandit Tanmoy Bose, the renowned Grammy award winning percussionist. It is expected that several noted artists and cultural icons will perform at the program.
Kolkata and Nepal shares a close bond across centuries and it is only natural that in this hour of crisis when millions in Nepal are suffering from the effects of the devastating earthquake Kolkata desires to hold the hand of Kathmandu with the comfort and fellow feeling of a sincere friend.
Objective for Relief and Re-construction:
- In the short term to provide different items and equipments as per the need at this hour.
- In the long run to participate in the re-construction process with the aim to rebuild a village/settlement with health, education and energy infrastructure adopting the model of livelihood and sustainability.
