Dance in Asia : trends and movements

Initially from Marseilles, France, Mr. Drissi is a choreographer, teacher, director, producer and performer who studied extensively a wide spectrum of dance styles, such as, Ballet, Jazz, Theatre Dance, Modern and African Dances. In France, he studied at the well known Helena and Titus Pomsar ballet studio, he also studied with a great number of famous Broadway choreographers and directors, such as, Chet Walker, Christopher Chadman, Kathleen Marshall, Bob Rizzo and Phil Black. He performed with the companies of Matt Mattox, Manuel Alum, Anthony Morgan, Diane Jacobowitz Dance Theatre and with Forces of Nature Dance Company in modern, jazz and theatre dance.

Mr. Drissi has taught Musical Theatre Dance and Jazz worldwide in universities and private studios and has created and premiered several jazz works, and choreographed numerous excerpts and full‐length musicals. He was a Senior Lecturer Coordinator of the Musical Theatre Dance Programme at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts from 1991‐2005. He regularly choreographed for productions of the HKAPA Musical Theatre Dance Department and the School of Drama and Music. Musical Theatre Education has been his big passion and focus for the past eighteen years. He is now the Chairman of The Hong Kong Musical Theatre Federation and Artistic Director of the Hong Kong 3 Arts Musical Institute.
