The book will be launched by the Chief Guest, Mme Virginie Corteval, Hon’ble Consul General of France in Kolkata along with the Guests of Honour, Smt. Krishna Bose, former member of parliament, author, veteran political and social worker and Shri Jawhar Sircar, author and public intellectual, chairman, the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences (CSSS), IAS (rtd.), former CEO of Prasar Bharti and secretary to the Government of India and Ministry of Culture .
The programme will be moderated by Mr. S.V. Raman, retired Programme Director of Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and Programme Consultant to the Victoria Memorial Hall.
Lectures by distinguished academicians, Prof. Sobhanlal Dattagupta ( Professor emeritus, Calcutta University ), Prof. Abdus Samad Gayen ( Professor and Head of the Department, Political Science, Presidency University, Kolkata), Prof. Garima Dhabhai (Professor, Department of Political Science, Presidency University) will follow the book launch.

Arghya Bose
The Editor & Co-translator
Arghya Bose is alumnus of the Department of Political Science at Presidency University, Kolkata, and the Institut des études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris), where he studied International Relations and Strategy. An erstwhile fellow at the French Embassy in India and at Sciences Po Paris, Bose is primarily interested in colonial – post-colonial intersections in general, while studying it through the lens of the specific discourses around Indo-French colonial encounters in particular. His works include regular contributions to academic journals around political thought and theory. Besides this book, his next work titled A Wrinkle in Empire: Reflections on Colonial and Nationalist Imaginations of Territoriality in French Chandernagor in scheduled to be published in July 2019.
Sandhia Vasseur
Co-translator
Alumnus of the Ecole nationale supérieure des sciences de l’Information et des bibliothèques, Sandhia Vasseur is specialized in Library and Documentation Policies. A graduate in literature and arts from the Université Paris Diderot, she engages herself in studying the politics inherent in libraries as spaces of creation and diffusion of knowledges situating it in the larger colonial postcolonial dynamic.
