On the occasion of legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen’s (1923-2018) Birth Centenary, Alliance française du Bengale in association with Drishya Film Collective, Blue Chalk Studio and Tramline, present three-day film-screening-followed by an engaging discussion programme to pay tribute to the master.
We invite you all to celebrate one of the most powerful, sensitive and introspective chronicles of the urban middle-class in these confused times. It would be hard to find another filmmaker who has captured the multi-layered, complex moral crisis of our contemporary times as passionately as Mrinal Sen has.
As Mrinal Sen turns 100, we remember his ever-increasing relevance by screening three of his major films: ‘Calcutta 71’, ‘Bhuvan Shome’ and ‘Antareen’.
We are indeed fortunate to have on board with us, internationally acclaimed actor / thespian / filmmaker / singer-songwriter Anjan Dutt, Sekhar Das (noted filmmaker, academician) and Prof. Sanjoy Mukhopadhyay (eminent literary critic and film scholar).
To mark this occasion, eminent painter Hirah Mitra has prepared a series of drawings which we will be showcasing at the venue during this three-day period.
