Amrita Sher-Gil is an iconic figure in the world of art and for the people of India, who was often compared to the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. 🎨 Born in Budapest during the early years of the First World War, she played a pivotal role in initiating contemporary Indian artwork. Despite her untimely death at the age of 28 in 1941, her influence continues to inspire artists in India and across the world. 🌍

This film is shot in New Delhi, Bombay, Simla, Budapest, and Paris, offering an intimate glimpse into her extraordinary life, drawing upon her personal letters to loved ones and showcasing her unwavering commitment to the realm of art. ✉️ Through this documentary film, we get to tap into the modernity she brought to the Indian subcontinent. 🇮🇳🎥

Patrick Cazals is a French filmmaker, screenwriter, and author, having directed over 50 documentary films. Cazals was born and raised in Paris, France. 🎬🇫🇷
