Synopsis
Tagore has been fundamental to the development of modern Indian consciousness and sensibilities. He has been a bulwark against the marauding forces of intolerance and blind faith in militaristic nationalism. His contribution to aesthetics is well known. What is lesser known perhaps is his commitment to rural development.
Here we have the rare privilege to have with us a person whose life and work has been deeply influenced by Tagore’s philosophy and approach to development. he will be presenting to us through a expansion of Tagore’s writings, poetry and life – a lecture which is very pertinent and essential for anyone who would like a greater understanding of the poet’s contribution to modern India.
