Join us for ‘AAMI’, an evocative Bengali theatre experience that uncovers the layers of existentialism, inspired by the renowned French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre. 🎭
In this solo performance, Brishti brings to life ‘Raag’, a young woman caught in the turbulent grip of an existential crisis. As she navigates the absurdities of life, ‘Raag’ confronts the feelings of alienation and societal rejection that challenge her very sense of self.
Mark your calendars for:
Date: Sept 27, 2024, Friday
Time: 6:30 PM
Venue: Alliance Française du Bengale
Duration: 65 minutes
Throughout the performance, watch as ‘Raag’ transforms from a hopeful individual to someone increasingly detached from her surroundings, grappling with her identity in a world that feels increasingly hostile. As she faces the absurdity of her circumstances, ‘Raag’ wrestles with the core existential questions of freedom and responsibility. Can one carve out a genuine identity amidst societal pressures and expectations? Under the insightful direction of Shankha Ghosh, this adaptation illustrates ‘Raag’s’ quest for authenticity and her rebellion against the constraints that seek to define her.
The themes of choice, despair, and the search for meaning resonate powerfully throughout her journey, echoing Sartre’s assertion that “existence precedes essence.” We invite you to partake in this thought-provoking discussion following the performance.
