In the beginning of the 20th century, some fundamental questions were raised in the European musical circles, that changed the history of music forever. This new music, though remained confined to a minuscule proportion of listeners, flourished in the academia, was subjected to rigorous scientific research and attracted brilliant musical minds from around the world in last one hundred years. So, what are the composers and music researchers up to? How does the music of our time sound like? How is it constructed? And in the age of globalisation, what this music has to offer to the Indian culture, and in return, what India has to offer to this new musical   language?

Santanu Datta is a Composer, Classical Guitarist and Singer whose musical ventures extend from the Jhumur of Bengal to the Contemporary Classical Music of Europe. After graduating from the Indian Institute of Technology, he moved to Paris in 2011 and received training in Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, Orchestration, Composition, Guitar and Chamber Music. In 2015, Santanu obtained the prestigious Diplôme de Composition from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with unanimous voting of the jury. Santanu received various scholarships for his music studies and also holds the LTCL Diploma in guitar performance. Currently, he is studying Composition and Orchestration at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.
