Mr. Fabrice Etienne, Consul General of France in Kolkata, and Mrs. Maina Bhagat, Director, Oxford Bookstore, Kolkata take great pleasure in announcing the launch of the French Books Section at Oxford Bookstore Park Street, the first of its kind in Kolkata. Mr. Etienne and Mrs. Bhagat will unveil the new French corner in the presence of Mr. Max Claudet, director of the Institut Français en Inde (Embassy of France in India), Mrs. Judith Oriol, Book Attaché (Institut Français en Inde/Embassy of France in India) and many other distinguished guests on.

Oxford Bookstore, India’s leading bookstore chain, is delighted to introduce the new French Books Section at their Kolkata store. Oxford Bookstore and the Book Office of the Embassy of France in India / Institut Français en Inde have jointly conceived and realized the project to introduce the best of French literature to readers in Kolkata.
Starting out with over 100 French titles, the French Book list, curated by the French Book Office, brings together on the shelves of Oxford Bookstore Park Street classic and contemporary French literature (fiction and non-fiction) as well as French translations of some of the most celebrated works of Indian literature, and specifically of Bengali literature.
The French Books Section in Oxford Bookstore Park Street aspires to provide French language enthusiasts, readers and bibliophiles – for the very first time in Kolkata – a space to discover and devour classic and contemporary French works. This dedicated initiative, which promises to captivate the interest of both adult readers and young minds, marks the inception of a long-term cooperation between the French Book Office and Oxford Bookstore, and the many cultural bridges between Bengal and France.
