Screen Shot 2015-06-10 at 11.18.02 AMAs part of the Festival DANCE BRIDGES FESTIVAL, the French contemporary dancer,  Rocio Berenguer, will present her work “Homeostasis” (Rehearsal video: http://pulsopulso.com/works/homeostasis/) on 7 August 2015 at Kalamandir at 7pm.

Ms. Berenguer will participate in post performance talks on 8 August at the Max Mueller Bhavan from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, and teach in a festival workshop on 9 August at the Calcutta School of Music.

Rocio Berenguer – Born in Barcelona in 1987. Spanish actress originally, she stages, dances and choreographs in France for five years. Awarded a diploma in stage direction and dramaturgy, certified teacher of yoga, she formulates her artistic research as “battlefield of my body – an anatomical cartography of the contemporary body” at FAIAR (art in unconventional spaces) from 2011 till 2013 in Marseille. Founder of the company Pulso, she visions her movements as a dramaturgy of the body, urban particularly, among which the video surveillance, the coercive architecture of the generic cities, a mutant shape of flamenco or the update of a system of physical exploitation can be alternately the enemies, the allies or the choir. She received the international first prize of the biennial event Digital Baths on 2014 for her creation “Corps/non-lieu”.

Homeostasis is an attempt of reprogramming one’s internal structure to reach a better version of oneself who is there homeostasis with the current context: the entry to the digital era. The formal choice to decontextualize the flamenco in a proposal of digital art installs the metaphor of the dichotomy between inheritance, DNA, memory and contemporary context.
