On this occasion, Professor Villani will talk on

the synthetic theory of Ricci curvature bounds:

Abstract: The synthetic theory of sectional curvature bounds is popular and famous, with a wide range of applications. How can one do the same with Ricci curvature bounds? Solutions for this started to emerge a dozen years ago, and were recently confirmed by strong results. This theory is at the intersection of probability theory, calculus of variations and the theory of metric-measure spaces.
