BOOK LAUNCH
Sampark launches translations of two fine French books; in Bengali and in English.
Daniel Pennac’s novel about the body Journal d’un corps has been translated into lucid Bengali by Deb Choudhury; in Bengali it is now Shorirer dinlipi.
And, Jean-Francois Bert’s outstanding introduction to the thought of Michel Foucault is Sampark’s newest offering MICHEL FOUCAULT (translated by Sourish Datta).
To discuss the impact of Foucault on contemporary Indian thought, we will have political scientist, Professor Sanjib Mukherjee who has taught in Calcutta University and at CSSS, Kolkata and CSDS, Delhi. And, writer Sekhar Bandopadhyay will join Sunandan Roy Chowdhury, founder and publisher of Sampark to discuss how has Bengali and Indian literature imagined the human body.
