This event is free and open to all
A discussion with expert architects on the value of heritage to community and the importance of a community effort in its restoration and preservation. This session will discuss how heritage is helpful to us as citizens and how the latest developments are to take its promotion beyond the realm of academia into a more citizen driven process.
This evening will be hosted in the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Damien Syed, Honorable Consul General of France in Kolkata.
About the panelists:
Raphaël Gastebois is an expert in urban development. In 2016, he joined the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs for the government of Pondicherry as part of the Smart City program. He is trained in the conservation and restoration of heritage. Aishwarya Tipnis is an award winning architect and urban conservationist.
Tipnis is currently directing the project “House of the Moon” in Chandernagore,
with the aim to restore centuries-old heritage buildings in the former French colony.
Under the realm of Bonjour India 2017-2018, she conducted the five-day Co-Creation Workshop in Chandernagore College. This workshop was a collaboration between Chandernagore College, Jadavpur University, Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur and Confluence Institute for Innovation and Creative Strategies in Lyon,France. The objective was to foster long term partnerships between institutes in India and France to work towards the sustainable development of the town.
In recognition of her commitment to the preservation of French heritage in India, she has been conferred the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the Ambassador of France to India in January 2018.
